Yellow tailed damsel juvenile - microspathodon chrysurus

Yellow tailed damsel juvenile (microspathodon chrysurus) is a species of damselfish native to tropical areas of the Caribbean. Damselfish are abundant in coral reef environments. Adult and young adult damselfish differ significantly in body color. The difference was so stark that researchers believed the adult and young adult forms were two distinct species. Juveniles are dark blue with brilliant, electric blue spots and transparent caudal fins. . Location: Bonaire part of the Caribbean Netherlands and part of the Leeward Antilles, February 2021.
